100 Years of...

I am almost positive that every single one of you that are reading this article right now have seen at least one video starting with: “100 years of…”. And if you haven’t, then you’re about to get an Internet 101 Course!

For those of you who haven’t heard of this latest trend, I will explain in a few words. Basically people have started doing videos on different subjects such as beauty, cars, toys, fashion, etc. And the point of these videos is to show everyone how we as people, nations, or sometimes groups, have evolved over the years. Along with this observation over our evolution, we also get to compare, state our opinion and argue over which decade we liked most. And this is where all the fun comes from.

From what I could tell, and please correct me if I’m wrong, one of the first if not the first video of this kind was the one about Beauty. And how women’s style, makeup and hairstyles have evolved over the last 100 years. It first started of course with the USA and I noticed that at this point, it has evolved to an impressive level. We could almost call it a series at this point. You can now see the evolution of 100 years of beauty from almost any country by now. But that’s not all.

They did not stop at beauty and now you can see this type of video with almost any subject that you can imagine. From beauty and style (including nails, eyebrows, and lips) to fashion (both men and women), cars (normal and luxury), home innovations, toys, food, and the list goes on. Almost any subject of major interest has been involved in this project.

The End?

So, while I’ve given some of you something to do and see for the next couple of hours, I want to talk to the rest. Has this trend faded? Have we covered all that there is to cover with this project? Is it time to stop? I don’t know. From my point of view, this project has covered all that it had to cover and we can move on to other stuff. But I’m sure that there will be many people to come up with still interesting ideas for this type of video. (What about 100 videos about 100 years of?) Although I think we are pretty close to that number.

But regardless of that, I just want to comment all of these creative and talented people for their hard work. I bet it’s not easy for anyone involved and that there is much work put into every single one of these. So, for those of you who had not had the pleasure to check out these videos, take a look below.
